2-BIT DUNGEON
A downloadable game
06/25/2023
CONCEPT:
t's an isometric procedurally generated Zelda game that mimics the layouts from the OG 2D Zelda game
Also it will be monochrome because who has time for colors? 🤷♂️
WHAT WENT WRONG:
Outside of actual game development, my schedule and time management was all over the place. To make room for game-a-week, I had to reprioritize a lot of aspects in my life to punch time in for my day job and this endeavor.
That being said, I didn't get much done on the project itself :(
WHAT WENT RIGHT:
I decided to merge my larger framework with the game-a-week games. It's integration was a little tricky, but now I can reliably segment my code while leveraging my larger libraries from my core project.
In this way, I can build freely for Game-a-week, while also working on persistent tech that will be reused over and over again in future games and projects. I have the choice to build things completely from scratch, or to rely on core tech to get the project off the ground.
WHAT I LEARNED:
Game-a-week is a lifestyle and requires my full attention to get a return out of it. I need to adjust my schedule to suit production and get the bed ready for future projects.
