WHAT WENT RIGHT:

Building pipeline tools to crunch through data was extremely helpful. I want to take it a step further and leverage a cloud DB to handle game metadata for live testing. That is a feasible goal for the next project.

I'm brushing up against my old sticking points that I didn't have the momentum to overcome, and I'm just starting to break down those barriers. I'm going to ride the momentum and break through those sticking points. Now is the time.

WHAT WENT WRONG:

The visuals look really messy. Slapping together a mix of finished and unfinished assets creates an incohesive look.

Lighting and rendering is a weak point of mine and I'd like to spend time resolving the best practices and techniques to use when running the new URP pipeline. There are a lot of bells and whistles that I am ignoring, and when it comes time to optimize, I have to have a battle plan ready.

My scheduling is starting to stabilize… I'm starting to take this seriously. I don't remember being this focused in a while and I genuinely think it's the right thing to do.

WHAT I LEARNED:

Pipeline tool programming is a requirement for games with lots of inventory and data. The ability to gather and push data will scale content quite quickly.

The way to refactor code is to create new scripts on top of your old code. Modifying the same .cs files will lead to previous projects breaking, so it's just easier to rename old scripts and start using those components instead.

This game is so addicting. I love the feedback of clicking on the fish and then immediately seeing the coins go to my bank. The aquarium looks great and the fish and swimming is so realistic. My kids did not want to stop playing. We did not get a chance to feed the fish or add additional fish but I could see how much more interesting it will be when that is accessible. I think seeing some more colorful fish would be good. I really liked seeing the money the fish spawned grow. Might be also cool to name your favorite fish.

I can see how idle tapping game can be so addicting.  It is easy to pick up and play.  The game can used improvement by having the 3D assets match the UI thematically.  The game might also be better suited on a vertical layout so that mobile players can play the game discretely.  Also the coins appeared out of the fish's tail, if it can appear around the fish it might be more subtle.  Aside from that, its impressive you were able to get so much done this week!
